"Nuova S.A.M. Spa" has achieved today a big experience in constructing and marketing industrial batteries. Its location is respectful of territory and environment, and its targets are certified quality, service punctuality and total product recycling.

The project to recover lead from exhausted batteries was born in the industrial area of Calitri, beside Nuova Sam S.p.A.

This industrial project provides:

• a) Scrapping exhausted batteries - accomplishing the split up and the recovery of metallic lead, lead pastel and plastic.
• b) The fusion allows production of refined pig-lead using the pastel from scrapping.
• c) The refining allows production of every lead alloy necessary for battery traction.

Today, the so called "Polo South of Batteries" project is the only plant in Italy combining batteries' production and the recover of lead from exhausted batteries.

Considering that lead is suffering cost increase, producers, to be competitive, must necessarily recover lead from exhausted batteries.

"Polo South of Batteries" anticipated this process: it came earlier than European Lines 2006/66 in September 6th 2006 that regulates the harvesting and treatment of exhausted batteries for the future.
